The Lives of Others East Germany, the 1980s and Captain Gerd Wiesler (Ulrich Mühe) is a skilled interrogator for the Stasi, the state police. His mission is to spy on playwright Georg Dreyman (Sebastian Koch) and the actress Christa-Maria Sieland (Martina Gedeck), on the alert for anything his superiors consider subversive or criminal.
